Today was the first day of the rest of my non-banking life. My internal alarm clock woke me up bright and early for a Tuesday despite having the opportunity to sleep in. After checking my waking blood sugar (94), I ran the dishwasher, swiffered the floors, had breakfast at a cafe around the corner, went to the market, went to the gym, went shopping, went to the gym again (met with justin), picked up dinner and sat in front of the tv...it was uneventful in the best way. I wasn't in a rush to go anywhere or do anything in particular. I held doors open for other people and made pleasant conversation with pregnant women in my pilates class. I've always wondered what kind of people are out in the world from 9-5: they're writers, delivery men, expecting mothers and diabetics inbetween jobs. While I don't think I could permanently be a part of this world and also be sane, it's still brilliant to do nothing in particular every now and then.
Now if I were Justin Matt or Geoff, I would have spent the day in front of our new flat screen TV playing a combination of either college football or NFL xbox video games. And for some reason explained to me (that obviously I still don't understand), they are very different games. I understand that there are college teams in one game and professional teams in the other but aren't they both football video games? I know there will be people reading this blog flabbergasted by my ignorance, but really, how different can they be? Get football to end zone. Kick ball between the two posts. Score more points than your opponent. Here's the best part: the video game does most everything for you since you only control one player at a time. So, if I understand the mechanics of that correctly, if you throw the ball, you're not really responsible for catching it. And this is supposed to be fun... I guess I am not one to judge since I like The Sims and all you do is simulate real life.
