Pumping insulin

As I am starting on this new journey of using an insulin pump, this quote that was on the wall of Memorial Church at Stanford seems to serve me well:

We must not desire all to begin by perfection. It matters little how we being provided we be resolved to go on well and end well.

I come in to pumping with expectations - that I should see better A1cs and control. Slowly realizing that while I'm hopefully entitled to this expectation, I also need to be patient. I feel like I'm re-learning how to count carbs. I had gotten to a point where I would just "be able to tell" how much insulin to give for a certain meal, but that was with the pen. Using the insulin pen, I learned how to give a little extra, because not all of the insulin would go in after a shot.

Getting things "dialed in" with pumping takes some time and work. My best advice would be to just be patient and take it slow. Sounds like you're doing just that. Be sure to blog any questions you have - there are lots of smart folks out there who will read and answer!

I came across your blog after looking for type 1 betus blogs. I am also a type one diabetic(over a decade) and I was wondering if you could post a link of my blog on yours. I am a 17 year old Irish girl hoping to get into art college and my blog is the result of my ramdom creations. If you could publishize me that would be wonderful!
Many thanks!
