Diabetes update
I was on a mission to lower my cholesterol. Some definite changes I made: Ate less red meat and salami (I think that's not red meat?), little to no cheese unless it was the fat free slices, more egg beaters and less eggs, stopped stocking freezer with ice cream. My LDL cholesterol went from 150 something to 127. Good progress but still not where it ideally should be. It's encouraging though to see real results. And I haven't had to go to an extreme of trying to eat a fat free diet. I'm going to try to incorporate cardio into the exercise regime although I've kind of fallen off that wagon. Not sure I was even completely on the wagon to begin with because I only ran twice for 2 miles each time. That's a pretty big deal for me... With the holidays and going to taiwan (which I previously blogged as being carbo-land) I was sure my a1c was going to be higher if not just plain high. But it was a very respectable 6.1. Kind of felt like maybe they got my blood samples mixed up? But I'll take it.
